Firstly, thanks for visiting binarynerd. This is my personal website which looks at topics that i'm interested in, most of which are of a technical nature. I'm an engineer at heart with a background in electronics. Two of the major topics I'm currently working hard to cover on my site are Java technologies and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs).

This article introduces the Apache Hadoop project. The Hadoop project is an open-source collection of projects all aimed at bringing distributed scalable data processing to the masses. Here I provide a short introduction to the Hadoop project and explain the basics of Hadoop and some if its history to provide some context.
